![]() It cannot possibly please everyone but I'm Soo happy that majority of this subreddit enjoys the game the way I do. Days Gone is an action-adventure survival horror video game developed by SIE Bend Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. Set up some traps and watch their numbers thin out was amusing to me. And the hoards are easy (I played on normal) and fun. When I was able to get the guns from the final camp, I genuinely felt like I earned them with my credits.Īs for clearing the camps and hoards, I always tired to clear the camps with full stealth (as a personal challenge) which was really entertaining for me so I liked it. The character upgrades and weapons u get has a high achievement feeling to them. The progression is designed to be slow which I understand, but if u wanna rush, go for it. If u wanna rush u can and I'm someone who takes thing slow. It has no politics that gets shoved in to ur face, even the political characters get outright shut down by Deacon. It's Soo relatable, u can feel like deacon is someone who can really exist in such a universe realistically. Like all that character growth was for nothing. It makes the entire first part of the story feel meaningless. It’s almost like the writing team couldn’t decide if they wanted a story about a man redeeming himself and finding new meaning, or a story about a man whose search for his wife eventually finds her. Then the story pulls a 180 and decides “ha, pranked ya, Deacon’s wife is alive all along” and you spend the rest of the game in this really out of place feeling part of the narrative. By the end of the Ripper part of the storyline you basically get there, you find meaning in a found family at Iron Mike’s camp. That’s largely just my opinion of the characters and the writing, but I also think it’s objectively bad too.Īs Deacon, you spend a lot of the game coming to terms with the loss of your wife and looking for meaning in a world without the love of your life. The story was honestly the weakest part for me. I love Days Gone for the atmosphere, the gameplay and the world design. Some fine-tuning and editing-to remove the unnecessary and tedium parts-and this game can be unique and interesting.I’m just gonna say it, the story is kinda bad. It feels bloated with lots of meandering storylines, repetitive missions, and forgettable characters. It offers the same tale of mankind's struggles to recreate society that zombie survivals often have. Overall, Days Gone is an action-adventure game that you've seen before. In fact, if you are a fan of Far Cry 5, you will find everything familiar. While there is nothing wrong with that, there is nothing here that you cannot experience in other games. There are lots of shootouts with a few forced stealth missions. At its core, it is a standard third-person game where everyone seems to need something. The game also does not offer much respite, gameplay-wise. The entire cast-aside from Deacon-is forgettable. Unfortunately, the hidden stories are the only interesting thing about the Days Gone. The filmmaker in his emotional note revealed that a part of his 'life story is gone,' leaving a huge gap. ![]() ![]() The game has different story threads that you can explore. There is even a hint of government conspiracy in the storyline. Aside from completing missions, there is also Deacon's quest to find out what happened to Sarah, the various human factions, and the reason behind the zombie infection. ![]() However, there is more to the story once you dig deeper. Moreover, you can hunt animals for meat and skins that you can trade with the community. In between missions, you can explore the land, pick up side quests, or raid bandit camps. You can also improve your skills, such as gun handling, fighting, and foraging. Every task completed will open up the map and reward you with cash to buy better weapons and motorbike upgrades. You will take on missions, drive to specific locations and shoot the zombies. The central gameplay of Days Gone is easy to follow. Together with a fellow biker named Boozer, you will take on various missions and survive the post-apocalyptic world. Deek has just lost his wife, Sarah, and is now living as a rootless biker. The game takes you to a zombie-filled location in the rural Pacific Northwest, where you will fight the undead to survive.
